About Dive Ops

Dive Ops takes pride in providing safe, fun and educational diving and snorkelling adventures in the beautiful Bay of Islands.

Dive Ops works in both the commercial and recreational diving arenas, complying with the Department of Labour guidelines for all forms of diving. The Vessels

 

We have three vessels, all fully comply with NZ Maritime Safety requirements and are equipped with you in mind:
  • Deep 6 is a purpose-built RHIB dive tender which cruises quickly and comfortably out to our Bay of Islands dive sites at around 30 knots 
  • Goose is 7.3m multi-purpose vessel and also cruises quite quickly at 24 knots
  • Waimaru is a 12m x 6m self powered barge, capable of carrying 23 tonne with 5 tonne Hyab & 10 tonne winch, 12m pole mooring system - perfect for commercial diving requirements.

Equipment

 

We have dive gear and snorkel equipment available for hire for those heading out on one of our Bay of Islands dive charters - you can book it when you book online, or contact Dive Ops to book it separately. We have a full range of scuba & surface supply diving equipment capable of supporting diving to 30m.

Meet the Dive Ops Team

 

We have a small team of divers, all whom are proficient at what they do and work with pride, confidence & expertise. All our divers have a vast experience offshore and locally around the Bay of Islands:

Dusty, Director, Guide & Mentor - Dusty has over 30 years experience in the military, commercial and hyperbaric diving industries.

Some interesting highlights from Dusty's career:
  • Salvaging the Rainbow Warrior
  • Saturation diving in Asia and the Med
  • Salvage work on the Mikhail Lermontov
  • Serving aboard the now wreck Canterbury NZ

Qualifications: Navy dive instructor, HSE Part II, Diving Medical Technician, DAN IT, LST, Hyperbaric systems Supervisor, deep and mixed gas specialist.



Aroha, Catering and Administration Aroha is a non-diver but has been married to Dusty for 29 years. Aroha is the substance that holds and molds the whole Dive Ops team together.


Michaela. Marketing ManagerMichaela is responsible for marketing and managing the shop front; she has a strong background in customer service, and has grown up in the diving industry.

Qualifications: SSI Dive Con, ILM Skipper.

 
Cameron, Operations Manager/ Guide & Tutor A happy, friendly, giant of a man, not just in stature but in personality, Cameron's enthusiasm and exuberance make for a fantastic days diving. We think he was born part fish.

Qualifications: PADI assistant instructor and certified OSH commercial & tourism Diver. 
                            ADAS Part 1,2,&3, BOSAC.
